Xwatch Safety Solutions joins Hexagon
Hexagon acquired Xwatch Safety Solutions, a global leader in developing and creating safety solutions for construction sites. Xwatch provides operator-friendly machine control hardware and software technologies designed to enhance safety protocols on construction sites. The company previously partnered with Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, to develop the 3D Avoidance Zone system, an integral part of Hexagon’s digital construction product suite.
A digital transformation for rainforest conservation
R-evolution, Hexagon’s sustainable innovation and green-tech investment subsidiary, launched its forest initiative Green Cubes. Leveraging state-of-the-art airborne hybrid image and LiDAR sensors and ground-based reality capture technology from Leica Geosystems, Green Cubes combines technology and science to generate a digital twin of the forest for measuring and visualising forest volume, complexity and biodiversity indication. The project meets ESG contribution requirements for corporate sponsors and provides forest owners with a sustainable, recurring income to make conservation financially viable.
New indoor scanning capability for Leica BLK2FLY
3D reality capture of building exteriors and interiors is necessary to create complete digital twins. Increased performance of the autonomous navigation system heightens the sensor’s spatial awareness, allowing for obstacle avoidance in more confined spaces. The BLK2FLY’s new indoor scanning capability unlocks a new level of autonomy to build digital twins of entire structures — inside and outside.
Leica Geosystems launches Leica BLK2GO PULSE
The BLK2GO PULSE first-person laser scanner provides customers with a rapid, simple and intuitive first-person scanning experience that delivers full-colour 3D data instantly in the field. Built in collaboration with Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation, the BLK2GO PULSE fuses Sony’s advanced Time-of-Flight (ToF) image sensors with Leica Geosystems’ proven GrandSLAM technology.
Hexagon partners with Nemetschek
Hexagon’s Geosystems division and the Nemetschek Group, a leading software provider for the AEC/O and media industries, announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the digital transformation within the AEC/O industry. Jointly, Nemetschek and Hexagon will provide customers with the tools, services and expertise for an end-to-end digital twin workflow by joining the up-to-date building data through Hexagon’s latest reality capture solutions with the smart and efficient building operations powered by Nemetschek’s dTwin platform.
Leica Geosystems launches its first Machine Smart Antenna — the Leica iCON gps 120
The new Leica iCON gps 120 Machine Smart Antenna empowers construction professionals with scalable and flexible machine control solutions. Thanks to its flexibility, scalability and modularity, it extends Leica Geosystems’ machine control solution offering to more applications and machine types. Construction machines like compaction rollers, which usually require only sub-metre accuracy without heading, can now be equipped with a tailor-made Leica MC1 machine control solution. This allows streamlined operations and consistent workflows between heavy construction equipment that vary in application requirements. Using the Leica MC1 machine control solution enables more precise and quicker task completion, significantly enhanced fleet efficiency, reduced waste and more environmentally friendly operations.
Leica Geosystems unveils Leica TerrainMapper-3
Leica Geosystems introduced the Leica TerrainMapper-3 airborne LiDAR sensor, featuring new scan pattern configurability to support the widest variety of applications and requirements in a single system. The TerrainMapper-3 provides three scan patterns for superior productivity and for customising the sensor’s performance to specific applications.

Behind the scenes: The making of Reality Cloud Studio, powered by HxDR
In June of 2023, at Hexagon Live, Hexagon launched Reality Cloud Studio, powered by HxDR. Reality Cloud Studio is an easy-to-use software as a service (SaaS) solution that seamlessly connects people, projects, and reality capture data in the cloud. It provides automated tools for working with reality capture data — such as automated registration and meshing of point clouds — and fosters collaboration by sharing, visualising, and using digital reality data directly in the cloud. Reality Cloud Studio offers many user-friendly features to simplify and automate the process of working with reality capture data, including how we share and visualise data. It is worth looking deeper into how Reality Cloud Studio was created and, specifically, how HxDR — a powerful digital reality platform — powers it.
Hexagon acquires Voyansi to strengthen its AECO software portfolio
In June, Hexagon announced the acquisition of Voyansi, a global company that empowers the AECO industry with BIM-enhanced solutions across the asset lifecycle from design to construction and operation. Using artificial intelligence to automate dataflows and processes, Voyansi’s team of software experts makes AECO workflows easy to understand, deploy and leverage. Voyansi creates actionable insights leveraging reality capture and integrated solutions such as scan-to-BIM or scan-to-FM. It thus complements Hexagon’s advanced AECO solutions that enhance efficiency, accuracy and collaboration across the construction lifecycle, and supports the operations and facility management of assets. “Guiding the shift towards digital transformation is central to ushering the construction industry into its next phase (...)"
